Girton Golf Club celebrated 80 years in existence in November 2016, and it is a successful members club with excellent facilities sitting in the village of Girton, on the outskirts of Cambridge.
Known as a no “airs and graces” club, a real golf club, Girton has progressed a long way since its foundation in 1936 as a nine hole course. Extended to 18 holes in 1979 and with a new clubhouse opened in 1992, the present highly manicured parkland course is now visual delight with a profusion of trees and flowering shrubs bordering its fairways and boundaries. Comparatively flat, it is quite tight and represents a testing challenge of accuracy and control.
